Stillness Before the Storm: Rewiring Kyrgyzstan’s Mindset”

From Individual Insight to Team Strength
We started by conducting comprehensive diagnostics with every player, resulting in detailed individual profiles. These became the foundation for building the team profile, which gave us insights into the team’s collective mindset, collaboration potential, pressure response, and internal motivation.
The Coaching Staff as Strategic Partners
The process was closely aligned with the coaching staff – head coach Stefan Tarkovic, assistant coach Karol Prazenica, and fitness coach Martin Rusnak.
Thanks to Coach Tarkovic’s previous experience with our work, we were able to define clear goals and a workflow from the beginning. Together, we evaluated all key outcomes and incorporated them into the team’s final preparation plan.

Individual Sessions, Collective Impact
Every player took part in a one-on-one session where we presented their personal insights along with tailored recommendations, tips, and tricks. Our goal was to help each player understand how to reach their potential during the tournament and at the same time support the team’s overall cohesion on the pitch.
Although optional, the players fully embraced these sessions. They even approached us with deeper questions – eager to understand how they could improve their mindset, manage pressure, and stay focused in key moments.
Language Barriers, Cultural Respect
While the collaboration was primarily in English, there were natural language challenges. Some players spoke Russian, others spoke only Kyrgyz. Our solution?
Trust within the team. Players chose a teammate they trusted to act as a translator during our sessions, ensuring two-way communication.
Initially, we were unsure how this approach would be received – but we were genuinely impressed by their openness, curiosity, and smooth communication. By respecting their culture, values, and worldview, we created a safe and effective space that led to visible progress in behavior and mindset.

Feedback from Head Coach Stefan Tarkovic
“Working with Headformers was extremely effective and focused on immediate support in preparing the team for the Asian Cup 2023. It was my first encounter with the mentality of the Kyrgyz nation, and even though I had a clear vision of what to expect, the collaboration brought many valuable insights. The diagnostic methods used by Headformers helped me better understand how to work with the team’s mindset and set an optimal approach for preparation. The results gave us a clear direction in the final phase to achieve the best possible team performance.
Even though the collaboration was time-limited, it was intense not only with me as head coach but also with the entire coaching staff. Players who were interested also made use of individual sessions. We were pleasantly surprised by their high level of engagement – despite not knowing Karin and Lukas beforehand. I consider this extremely positive feedback.
I’ve worked with Headformers in the past, and their insights have always provided valuable information I could apply in my work. I believe we will continue and further develop this collaboration in the future.”

Conclusion
Working with a team unfamiliar with mental preparation, in a foreign language and culturally specific context, became an inspiring experience. It proved that when trust, respect, and a shared vision exist – language is no barrier. The game is played with heart.
